Hello everyone! So Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 has finally come to an end. Well till now, I am glad I was able to run you through Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and behind the scenes of LFW as well. For Day 4 & Day 5, here are some of my favourites –
DAY 4
6 Degree – Lalit Dalmia, Saroj Jalan, and ‘I AM Design’ by Pratik & Priyanka
For those of you who didn’t know – 6Degree is India’s first fashion & tech startup and every season, they introduce and encourage a number of upcoming fashion designers. I got a chance to see the work of three very talented new designers – Lalit Dalmia, Saroj Jalan, and ‘I AM Design’ by Pratik & Priyanka. While ‘I AM Design’ by Pratik & Priyanka took inspiration from the traditional Indian weaves & motifs, Lalit Dalmia’s collection was inspired by McQUEEN and the gothic cult.
What stood out for me was the presentation by Saroj Jalan. Her collection at Lakme Fashion Week depicted the celebration of what we call truly Indian & our rich and diverse chronicle. Mixed in the harmony of nature & traditional motifs, she incorporated the essence of an ethnic grandeur society. She highlighted the ensembles with patanpatola and kept the silhouette lines very simple yet very traditional using the vibrant hues of red, mustard, emerald and beige.
Kunal Rawal
Whether it was the music, stylish screens as a backdrop or simply a handsome Sidharth Malhotra, designer Kunal Rawal nailed it with an amazing show at Lakme Fashion Week on day 4. His show was presented by Reliance Footprint and while we got to witness his signature touch – the effortless swag and dapper designs, he also carefully chose ethnic kurtas instead of the usual smart casuals. His collection included harem pants, stream-lined kurta-pyjamas and embroidered nehru jackets. The hotness level reached its peak with this show!
Monisha Jaisingh
Ending Lakme Fashion Week Day 4 with a bang was Monisha Jaisingh – She had a collection inspired by the Magnum ice-cream! No kidding – Presented by Magnum, her line featured a beautiful range of embroidered denims, embellished gowns and metallic garments in shades of gold, ivory and chocolate brown. Couldn’t resist!
DAY 5
Rohit Bal
Ace designer Rohit Bal along with Kareena Kapoor Khan closed the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016. Rohit Bal, who is celebrating 25 years in the fashion industry this year, showcased a collection entitled “Koroshini”, which is an Urdu word for illuminate. From yards of mulmul to hues of gold & ivory, the models were dressed in royal anarkalis, long jackets, lehengas, sarees, sherwanis crafted on pure hand spun silks and rich silk velvets. It was magical and Bebo looked gorgeous.
So yes, that summed up Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016. Sad it’s over but so glad I got a chance to attend it! Can’t wait for the next season!! To see my previous updates on my LFW Diaries, follow me on –
