Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 40, who has been away from the silver screen for about two years, has hit the headlines recently. It is being said that the former beauty queen has been approached to be paired opposite 25 year old Varun Dhawan, in Sriram Raghavan’s forthcoming thriller flick produced by Ramesh Taurani.
Varun Dhawan, who made his Bollywood debut last year with KJo’s film “Student of The Year”, has met director Sriram a few times to discuss the project. A source close to them, added, “Varun is believed to be a big fan of the kind of films Sriram is known for and he is almost confirmed as the lead. However, neither of them want to talk about it yet, since things are at an initial stage “.
While the makers are still waiting for Aishwarya’s response, this has sparked a massive debate about older women being paired opposite younger guys. In recent times, the audience has become critical seeing their favourite Khans sharing screen space with girls half their age!
A lot does depend on the script, characterization and how convincingly the director portrays his actors on screen but we are quite curious to see how it would be to really see an older woman, paired with a younger man, almost half her age. If presented appropriately, it could be very interesting! A good story has the ability to break stereotyped perceptions.
Well we hope that Aishwarya accepts this offer because who knows, it might just start a new trend of older women working with younger actors in the Bollywood. It will be an exciting pair and this will also increase the lifespan of an actress in the hindi film industry.
