You know what’s the BEST part about living in this tech era? You get to discover new apps every single day. I’ve been fortunate enough to come across and review many different apps, as part of my blogging career. Being a lifestyle blogger, I didn’t want to limit my content only to my blog. Therefore this year, I started taking platforms like Instagram and YouTube quite seriously too. And I can’t thank you guys enough for following my content. Recently, I was offered to join a new app called Galleri5. I was initially told it’s a photo sharing app and my first question was – so how is it different than Instagram or pinterest or flickr (though the latter isn’t an app). So, then I was told that Galleri5 is a visual discovery platform which helps people find things of interest such as places to visit, food to try out, fashion, home décor ideas etc.
Imagine being able to follow the things that interest you (say travel, adventure, street food, classical music, cricket etc) and seeing a feed full of the best photos posted by others on these topics. You do not need to know the people who post these photos, unlike on typical social networks where you ‘follow’ or ‘friend’ people. On galleri5 you just follow topics, or what we call ‘galleries’.
I was quick to jump in and immediately signed up. Of course, my passion is beauty and fashion. So I created a profile and my own gallery called ‘Spotlight Xoxo’
Upon logging in, I had to first browse through the suggestions, and find photos or galleries that interest me – say a particular trend in fashion which I am keen in and I am looking for ideas around that trend, all I have to do is click on the photo and find out more about it. It’s as simple as that. Well, that’s the power of visual discovery and galleri5 will curate pictures that interest you. Galleri5 allows you to repost the pictures taken on the app on Instagram with their own personalised logo.
So, I would say give it a shot guys! The only thing I would have wished was for the app to be a little faster. But overall, I have quite enjoyed using the app and discovering a lot of new photographs & information. It’s been a learning experience! So, what are you waiting for?
