For Diwali this year, I ended up creating 3 different looks.
First look : This one’s the most elaborated look of all. It consists of a royal blue silk lehenga weaved in floral design. I frankly did not get time to stitch a blouse. Hence, turned the orange dupatta into a one-shoulder boat neck blouse for that contemporary touch. I completed my look with a kundan neck piece and some bangles. This look’s perfect for a Diwali party or function. This year, of course, parties will be rare. But one can take note of different ideas to try out in the coming years too.
Second look: This one’s a more classic diwali look. A red salwar suit with a gorgeous matching dupatta. A pair of earrings and a bindi – that’s it! This look is apt for smaller diwali gathering, mostly family and close friends. If you notice, my salwar suit is pretty simple. I focused on the makeup instead. So, if it’s a small diwali gathering at your place with just a few friends and family, you can take inspiration from this look. To be honest, this is what I wore for my Diwali special episode for MELT. Yes, I finally went back to shoot from the studio, this Diwali. Hence, giving me a reason to deck up too!
Third look: This is the most subtle look of all. I spent Diwali this year packing, shifting and unpacking (well still in the midst of it). Therefore honestly, I didn’t have the energy to really dress up. But this was the first Diwali I spent with Sten after moving into our new home. So, I had this new black Kurti which I teamed up with white trousers. You can also wear white denim or leggings. I completed my look with a large pair of earrings. This look is perfect for a quiet and cozy diwali with minimal people – mostly family.
And that was it! These were my looks from Diwali 2020. Wish you all a very happy and prosperous festive season. May this festival of light bring lots of happiness in all our lives!
