Aurangzeb Movie Review
By Harsh
Cast: Arjun Kapoor, Sasha Aagha, Jackie Shroff, Rishi Kapoor, Prithviraj, Amrita Singh, Sikander Kher, Anupam Kher.
Music: Amartya Rahut, Vipin Mishra
Director: Atul Sabharwal
Plot:
Ajay (Arjun Kapoor) and Vishal (Arjun Kapoor again!) are twin brothers who were separated by their mother in fear of their dad, played by Jackie Shroff. Jackie Shroff runs a disguise real estate business among the several illegal fronts.
Ravikanth (Rishi Kapoor), Arya (Prithviraj) and Dev (Sikender Kher) are shown as corrupt policemen who just want to fulfill their dreams and ready to kill anybody who turns out to be a hurdle. Ravikanth sends Vishal in place of Ajay as an informer to know all the secrets and illegal activities of Yashvardhan (Jackie Shroff). And when the twin brothers realize the real plan of Ravikanth, they plan something out and that’s the suspense. The movie is quite interesting and not at all boring. The dialogues are a little stale in the second half otherwise the movie is pretty much convincing
Technical Aspect:
The screenplay is good and the songs don’t bore you. In terms of music, Barbaadiyaan is very energetic and Jigra Fakira is touching. The Aurangzeb theme is portrayed very aptly with continuous reminders by Rishi Kapoor. The execution is just average and we believe it could’ve been much better considering the strong plot.
Performances:
Arjun Kapoor has done a wonderful job in portraying two different roles and has shown a great strength of character. His dialogue delivery has been outstanding and he’s the sole entertainer in the movie besides Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor, like every time, is incredible with his character. His strong and dominant persona is one of the reasons that glues you to your seats. Prithviraj has done a better job than he did in his previous flick Aiyyaa and Sikander Kher pulls off whatever scenes he had been given quite well. Amrita Singh is seen after a long time and does justice to her role. Sasha Agha, played Ajay’s girlfriend in the film and definitely needs a few lessons in acting. Jackie Shroff playing the role of a cunning mafia did brilliantly with his part and his body language carries a strong presence on the screen.
Analysis:
Overall, Aurangzeb is a movie which is quite entertaining. No scenes where I felt the movie was being slowed down or stretched. The movie had a tempo which was perfect enough to create a build-up to all the numerous twists and turns. The characters in the movie would keep you interested but the climax might baffle you up. Aurangzeb will be liked by some, will confuse some and will be disliked by some. Though that is not a big enough reason to avoid the movie. Go watch it for Arjun’s performance and the movie’s overall theme!
Bottom Line: The plot is good but the second half gets predictable. The dialogues could have been much better but overall its full on spice, twists, unexpected turns and a reason for you to watch the movie at least once is Arjun Kapoor. Don’t miss it!
Rating – 3/5
