Just to update you guys in case you have not seen the results on the Baby Lips give away, the winner of the contest is Kiran Chandiramani – congratulations! Thanks a lot to each and everyone of you for your participation. And today, I will be reviewing Maybelline New York’s Clear & Smooth 8-in-1 high protection Blemish Balm Cream or Maybelline BB cream in short.
As a modern girl working in a demanding industry, it gets difficult for one to step out of the house without basic make-up on. By basic I mean – a light foundation coverage, lip gloss and kajal. These are my three cosmetic essentials. Having said that, to be caked up with foundation all day long can prevent one’s skin from breathing which will lead to several breakouts. Been there, done that and it is not cool! So how can I achieve the flawless skin coverage without actually using any foundation? The Maybelline BB cream claims to address all these problems.
What The Product Endorses:
Essentially BB Creams or Blemish Balm Creams are a Korean Concept, they are like tinted moisturizers that are also supposed to be multi-purpose products combining UV protection, anti ageing, coverage and hyration. Adding on to that, the Maybelline BB creams comes with 8 other properties!
•High UV Protection (SPF 50, PA+++)
•Evens skin tone
•Visibly lightens skin tone
•Smoothens pores
•Corrects the appearance of dark spots
•More hydrated skin
•Conceals imperfections
•All day coverage, long lasting
My Review:
Available in stores at retail price SGD $16 or INR199 for 18ml , the BB cream comes in these following shades: Nude, Radiance, Light & Natural. For my review, I picked the light shade because there was no other shade available in the store I went to. Luckily, it blended pretty well with my complexion though it took me a while to apply the cream.
Cute packaging where one side of the cover actually even explains to you “how to use” the BB cream. Once you open the packaging, the sleek and small BB cream tube attracts you tantalizingly. I especially like the glaze of the anti UV logo.
So, I squeezed a bit of cream out from the tube and blended the cream well all over my face. It is not very thick but takes a while to blend in with the skin. Upon initial application, I honestly looked like a ghost! My face was too white and I think it’s due to the “light” shade which I picked. I am wheatish in complexion, so for me it did take a while for the foundation to sink in. Perhaps about fifteen minutes?
But despite all that, the Maybelline BB Cream actually gave me a very nice radiant and glowing finish on the cheeks. It provided decent coverage- not like that of a foundation obviously but good for everyday wear.
The BB cream makes sure my skin glows without caking it up with foundation. It’s ideal for an everyday use for all working girls who have to look presentable at all times. It’s small and can easily fit into your makeup pouch. So, I love the fact that I can carry it everywhere I go. It also contains a sunscreen protection of SPF 50. The BB cream is effective in concealing imperfections, discolourations and balancing out the skin tone. It is a moisturizer, sun-screen and foundation all in one. It looks very natural upon application and definitely lives up to its “flawless bare-skin look with one product” tag.
What’s bad:
Although it promises all-day coverage, at the end of 4/5 hours of wear it does wear out and the T-zone gets a bit greasy. It also does not work on extreme dry areas or flaky skin either. So if you have very dry skin, you might have to use a moisturizer once before putting the BB cream on. The only shades I saw in a local Singapore store was Natural and Light. I wish there were more shades available in Singapore to cater to wheatish and tanned skin tones.
My rating – 3.5/5
Tell me girls, what is your everyday beauty regime?
Do you use any daily foundation or tinted moisturizer?
