You do not need to be a celebrity to appear fashionable. You do not need a personal stylist to look good. Fashion is about taste and it takes a whole lot of guts to wear your own style and spell confidence. Festivities and celebrations are in the air and of course, you want to put your best foot forward! Thus we have rounded up 3 essential looks that are creating waves this season – Classic, Casual and Glamorous. Caught today in the style hunt are these three beautiful ladies (..and my good friends) who display their individual personalities with a distinct sense of style and fashion. Let’s get to know them!
The Girl Next Door
“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous” – a classic look oozes timelessness and this sums up Gayathri’s innate sense of fashion and style.
Presenting… Gayathri
Who – A Communications Professional, avid traveler and an ardent fan of Chanel. Gayathri is inquisitive by nature ; she loves to explore and loves to swim! She says, “I can’t quite explain my affinity with water. Pretty sure I was a whale in my previous birth”.
Fashion Dissection – Classy and simple! Gayathri believes that simplicity can translate to stylish and with classics, you can never go out of style. Although subtle and perhaps considered boring, Gayathri believes that Black and White colours spell confidence and give a sense of élan. You can dress both colours up or you can dress them down. “Tell me, when was the last time a little black dress let you down?” she asks.
Style Tip – With every outfit you need to have one standout accessory to complete the look. And for Gayathri, earrings are her staple fashion accessories. Even if she’s wearing a chunky chain, she makes sure that there are little studs on her ears. She signs off with a beautiful quote by Coco Chanel:
“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”

Creative fantasies are clearly not evaporating just yet. A casual look exudes an aura of playfulness while effectively being edgy. This is what makes her stand out!
Presenting… Muskan
Who – Business Development Manager, shopaholic and loves to dance! Muskan also loves clicking photos and capturing the moments life has to offer. She loves to plan parties and events for friends. Muskan has a fetish for shoes, handbags & sunglasses and loves to experiment with different kinds of makeup.
Fashion Dissection– Inspired by street style and mixing separates to come up with a new look is a vision that guides Muskan. “Just feel beautiful, stylish and confident in whatever you are wearing…do not just blindly follow fashion trends”, says Muskan. When it comes to Indian fashion, she favours a Chikan embroidered white kurta/salwar with a bandhani dupatta! You like?
Style Tip – A classic black blazer cannot go wrong. It is ideal for an everyday office look and can be dressed up for a fierce evening appearance or dressed down for a laidback casual weekend get-up. Muskan signs off by saying, “one thing I personally can’t do without is good smell…my current favourite perfumes are Narciso Rodriguez, Gucci Guilty and Burberry Body”.
Urbanized, Glamorous and Divalicious
“Style: All who have it share one thing – Originality” and when it comes to Akanksha, her sense of style is glamorous and vibrant. She loves to experiment in a seemingly effortless yet carefully crafted manner.
Presenting… Akanksha
Who – Just graduated from National University of Singapore, Akanksha holds a passion for architecture, Bollywood dance, music & singing, philosophy, art, jewelry illustration, interior design and most of all, travel. Akanksha dislikes repeating a look and often coordinates her outfits to ensure each one is different from any one she’s worn before. Quite a Diva, huh?
Fashion Dissection –Go Bold or Go Home! Akanksha love colours, intricate accessories and chunky jewelry. She says, “My fashion mantra and my style is an amalgamation of my personality, my likes, dislikes and my positive outlook on life. I embrace – quite literally – any piece of clothing, accessory, footwear that I chance upon”.
Style Tip – Akanksha believes executing a look with confidence is key. As cliché as that sounds, your confidence in a piece of clothing or your body type is what makes or breaks your entire look. She adds that one can also never go wrong walking out of their house with the right shade of red lipstick (her favourites: Chanel Rouge Coco Cambon, MAC Russian Red) and oversized shades. And lastly, she feels that no matter how stylish one may look like, we should never judge someone simply on their exterior. “A true Fashion Diva never judges a book by its cover”- she signs off.
