Happy New Year Trailer is out and is creating a buzz online. Directed by Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah, Sonu Sood, Sarah-Jane Dias and Jackie Shroff. The music of Happy New Year has been composed by the duo of Vishal-Shekhar.
Here are 5 things I loved about the trailer.
1) THE EVER -SO-CHARMING S.R.K
He’s back with the beard, looking all macho. Totally giving out the Chak De India vibe, Shahrukh Khan looks really charming in the HNY trailer. I don’t know what the general consensus is but I’ve personally always been a fan of SRK’s tough and rough look.
However unlike Kabir Khan, Charlie is not cynical – he’s ambitious, funny and a little crazy as well. Oh and I like the slight blonde streak. Shahrukh Khan seems totally in form.
2) DANCING ART HAIN – ART!
Yeppie, it’s a dance film and what’s there to not like about it? I like that Farah Khan is playing to her strength and doing a movie about a dance competition. I am pretty sure Farah must have meticulously choreographed all the songs in the film. So, looking forward to new signature dance steps… for now check out the men in Tutus!
Quite a catchy song but it reminds me of Halkat Jawaani? Nonetheless, it’s cool.
4) MISSION HAPPY NEW YEAR
Charlie, Mohini, Nandu, Jag, Tammy and Rohan – the story of 6 losers and how they plan to execute the biggest robbery of the year. Okay, we have heard of similar plots (Dhoom series, DON, Players etc) but in the HNY trailer, there’s a good blend of humor and thrill. The overall feel that I got after watching the trailer was very similar to SRK- Farah’s previous collaborations ie. Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om – it’s lavish, colouful and entertaining! Also, it’s cute the way all the actors have changed their Twitter Handle to their character names. Don’t think this marketing strategy has been implemented for any other Hindi film before.
5) TYPICAL MASALA ENTERTAINER
All in all, Happy New Year Trailer is all about what Bollywood stands for: SONGS, DANCE, DRAMA, ACTION and in fact everything larger than life.
Check out the trailer and tell me, does it meet your expectations?
Xoxo
