Bold, powerful & sexy – red lips never go out of fashion. A dash of red lip stain revs up your sex appeal without you even realizing it. It can give a lot of oomph to a simple LBD or LWD. And it’s a great tool to completely transform a day look to a night look. You could be even just wearing a simple tee & jeans but adding red lipstick would surely up the chic factor. Personally for me, I love vintage – Think Marilyn Monroe, think red lips! Top it up with soft hair, winged liner & you’ll be transported into an old Hollywood era. And because red lips are so dramatic, you have the luxury of keeping the rest of your makeup clean and simple. With a little mascara on the eyes, you’re ready to hit the streets.
Recently, I chanced upon a pretty red lipstick shade by Maybelline. It’s from the Velvet Matte range & I picked up shade no. 7 – MAT7 72M500.
The shade is really sexy. I also like the texture; it’s smooth and easy to apply using the cute sponge brush. But yes, since I prefer to hide all pigmentation, I had to apply this at least thrice to get the red shade which I am wearing. Also It’s not completely matte like it claims, it’s more cream based & you have to top up every 3 hours or so.
I also like the packaging – it’s classy and fits in a tiny clutch easily. I would suggest lining your lips before applying the lipstick first as this would make them look more symmetrical. This one’s pretty affordable at Rs 475/- for 5ml.
