Bangkok is obviously one of the world’s best places to eat tasty food. There are so many restaurants and street vendors selling Thai food especially along Sukhumvit Road. But basically all over Bangkok, you will find some really good pop-up food stalls that move around on trolleys and even others that are more or less permanent, serving fresh food at small tables on the street pavement. You can usually have a feast for under 150 Baht! On my trip this time round, I visited a couple of dining places which impressed me to a great deal.
The first was one was Nara Thai Restaurant at the Emquartier Mall. Of the extensive menu, yum som-o (pomelo salad), guay tiew ruea (Thai-style noodle in brown soup), stir-fried soft shell crab with yellow curry, tom yum goong, green curry and steamed fish with sour and spicy seafood dipping sauce are the most loved dishes. We ended up ordering some satays and appetizing starters, tom yam soup, stir-fried vegetables and a green curry dish. Each one of them was so tasty! And for desserts, we had the Thai styled iced kachang and Nara’s signature coconut milk ice cream with colourful assortment of toppings. A must visit!
Those who are fond of continental and Mediterranean food, you should drop by Capri at the Asiatique Riverfront. Lovely ambiance by the river and a great variety in the menu too. We ordered a seafood pasta, baked spinach, pizza and pork chops. I particularly loved the pasta – it was mouthwatering.
We also dropped by MBK Centre’s very popular food court, located on the sixth floor of the building. And we ended up having steam boat there. You can imagine how happy I was. Being brought up in Singapore all my life, I grew up on kway teow, chicken rice & of course steam boat. Missed this so much. And it was one of the best culinary experiences for me, in Bangkok. #feltlikehome
