Fabulous Experience At Fabcafe by Fabindia

It’s not too often we see brands going out of their way to create a unique and delightful experience for customers through excellent customer service. And in the case of restaurants, diners often place customer service as one of the most essential criteria. No matter how tasty your menu, customers won’t come back if they have bad experiences. So, when I was invited to try out the brand new Fabcafe by Fabindia – I was looking at two very important elements: the food (obviously!) and the service.

As soon as I stepped into the café in Andheri (by the way, Fabcafe has 3 branches in Mumbai!), I was quite impressed with the pretty setting. It is an all-day dining concept with lush green interiors – makes you feel at home.

The menu said that you’ll find regionally inspired healthy traditional Indian cuisine. I was curious.

I was first served a glass of “berry blast” – it was made of fresh berries blended with almond milk. The drink was super refreshing, tasty and fully vegan.

Among the starters, I first tried the “trio of grains papdi chaat” – which was delicious!! And the best part? The chaat consisted of super healthy papdi chaat made of jowar and bajra, topped with fresh yoghurt, pomegranate and mint chutney.

Next, I tried “water chestnut momos” – which was something different! The momos were wheat free made with a dough of jackfruit flour and root starches, lightly filled and served with a garlic, chives dip.

I also got a chance to taste the “chicken tikka salad” – which was essentially grilled chicken marinated with Indian spices and green vegetables. This one’s also a healthy option for salad lovers!

And finally, my most favourite starter was the “pan-friend mutton galouti with mint chutney”. Guysss.. I can’t even begin to tell you how tasty this was! If you are ever going to Fabcafe, this is one dish you MUST try!

Moving onto the main course, we were served “basmati rice”, “quinoa roti”, “dal makhni”, “paneer maska masala” and “Kashmiri mutton curry”. It was my first-time trying quinoa roti and I was pleasantly surprised at how soft it was. The Kashmiri mutton curry was super tasty, simmered with Kashmiri whole spices – but I loved the fact that they used minimal oil and it felt very home-like ghar ka khaana! My favourite in the main course got to be the daal makhni and paneer maska masala though! Daal makhni, in any case, is my all-time favourite but this dish, especially stood out because it was fortified with home churned white butter. There was no need for cream! And the paneer maska masala was sooo good – an indulgent white butter and tomato gravy with paneer cubes, made rich and wholesome without any cream! Honestly, the entire meal was lipsmacking delicious!!!

And finally, I ended my meal with a very unique “Himalayan honey & walnut tart” – which was essentially almond flour tart made with organic Himalayan walnuts and jaggery, drizzled with honey for the perfectly balanced sweetness!

So overall, what an amazing experience I had at Fabcafe. I think I found a new favourite restaurant and their service was topnotch with each and every staff, coming to us, making us feeling comfortable, explaining the dishes, recommending the meals and checking on us if we like what we are served! Kudos to you, Fabcafe for such fab staff! All their meals are made using local, organic and nourishing ingredients. This is super impressive because how many such restaurants do you find in Mumbai that actually pay attention to the quality and health quotient of meals? The cafe also caters to people with dietary restrictions and they restrain any use of refined sugar, oil and wheat and instead cook with ghee, hearty alternative grains, unrefined ghur. So even after such a heavy meal, I did not really feel bloated. All the dishes I tried were cooked with minimal masala and oil. There are also a lot of vegan, vegetarian and non-vegetarian options!

So, thank you Fabcafé for a fabulous experience. I can’t wait to go back again and this time, I’ll try their “all day breakfast”! Fabcafé is open from 8.30am to 10.30pm and meal for two will cost you approx. Rs 1400. You must visit !!
