1. Sri Devi

Sri Devi Kapoor started her career as a child actor at the age of four in Tamil movie Thunaivan playing the role of young Muruga and acted in many Tamil and Telugu movies from then on. Baby Sridevi’s performance in Poombatta (1971) in Malayalam won her the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist. Kandan Karunai (1967); Nam Naadu (1969); Prarthanai (1970) Babu (1971); Vasantha Maaligai (1972) are the most notable films of her career as a child artiste. In 1975, Sridevi debuted in Bollywood with Julie, where she played younger sister to the protagonist Lakshmi. Little did we know that Sri Devi would steal a million hearts as soon she would grow up! From Kandan Karunai to English Vinglish, Sri Devi has come a long long way indeed !

Urmila’s Ladki ki Kaathi song is still rated as one of the best children songs in Bollywood of all times. But did you know that the Rangeela girl’s first movie was actually in the Shashi Kapoor and Rekha starrer movie, Kalyug? She was only 6 years when she began her journey in Bollywood. A powerhouse of acting talent coupled with some amazing dancing skills, Urmila did “chamma-chamma” her way to win all our hearts !

Imran, who debuted in 2008, with the much-acclaimed film “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” began his stint as a child artiste in uncle Aamir Khan’s film “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”. Incidently he also starred in “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander” as a child artist, also playing the role of a young Aamir Khan. Wasn’t he just adorable?
4. Kunal Khemu

Kunal made his acting debut as a child artist in the 90s and made his comeback as an adult in 2005 with Kalyug. Everybody remembers Kunal as the “cute little boy” as he had appeared in some of the most successful films in the 90s starting with – Sir, Raja Hindustani, Zakhm, Bhai, Dushman and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke.
5. Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan started his career as a child actor in his uncle Nasir Hussain’s film Yaadon Ki Baaraat. Yaadon ki Baarat is definitely one of Bollywood’s legendary films and Mr Perfectionist, was seen as one of three brothers in their child avatars in the film. Interestingly there have been rumours that Yaadon Ki Baarat is to be remade very soon, once again, starring Aamir Khan.
6. Hansika Motwani

Best remembered as being Jaadu’s gang of friends in the 2007 film “Koi Mil Gaya”, Hansika Motwani is one of the most successful actresses in south Indian films. She has also appeared in a number of TV serials including the popular “Kyon Ki Saan Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi”. In 2007, she made her debut in Bollywood in “Aap Ka Suroor” opposite Himesh Reshamiya.
7. Sana Saeed

What happened to the adorable little Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hain? Well, Sana Saeed who debuted as Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji’s daughter Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hain made her debut in Student of the Year, last year. Interestingly, Sana was seen as a college hottie in the film and the film was once again directed and produced by Karan Johar.
8. Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan played Rajinikanth’s adopted son Govinda in ‘Bhagwan Dada’. Before being the heartthrob of the nation, Hrithik Roshan played a child actor in his father’s film Aapke Deewane. He then moved on to assisting his father on Karan Arjun and finally made an amazing debut with “Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai” as an adult.

9. Neetu Singh

Yes, not many people know that Neetu Singh featured in a number of films as a child artiste. Of the most prominent films among them was ‘Do Kaliyaan’, in which she played a double role. Wasn’t she simply adorable ? She made her debut with “Rickshawaala” in 1973 but her sizzling dance number to the song “Lekar Hum” from Yaadon Ki Baarat got her noticed in the industry and she was immediately offered lead roles opposite the best actors at that time. She took a break from films after getting married to Rishi Kapoor in 1980 but made a comeback to films after 26 years appearing opposite her husband in Love Aaj Kal, Do Dooni Chaar and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
10. Jugal Hansraj

Jugal Hansraj played the innocent Rahul in ‘Masoom’, around whom the movie revolved. He was very highly appreciated by the audience and this launched Hansraj’s career. Later on, he continued his career as a child actor in Karma and Sultanat. Hansraj was also featured as a model for TV and print as a child. He later debuted his film career with Aa Gale Lag Jaa and also acted in the successful multi-starrer Mohabbatein.
