Am I a fashion week regular yet? Hmm, I don’t know but I definitely enjoy attending all seasons of Lakme Fashion Week. Earlier this year, I did a vlog on how I spent my entire day at Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017.
And last week, I had the opportunity to attend Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. As time was short, I didn’t get a chance to see many shows. But the one preview I managed to catch was Narendra Kumar’s showcase. He used an emotional movie as the show’s backdrop. It was something different. In fact, this was the first time I was seeing a cinematic fashion showcase. Narendra Kumar unveiled his collection ‘The Marriage of Shayla Patel’ – inspired by his imaginary muse, Shayla Patel, a writer, a strong-headed Piscean, who jets between New York, London, Zurich and Mumbai with extensive social media network, the designer dreamt up a winter wedding trousseau for her but what the story’s USP was the tussle in her mind to choose between her love and her family’s choice. The bridal trousseau unveiled in four chapters, each signified by a colour – beige, green, blue and red respectively. There were gowns, long jackets, sherwanis, lehengas, angarkhas and bridal wear.
‘The Marriage of Shayla Patel’ offered the audience a nice film (co-written and directed by Narendra Kumar and nephew Anirudh Raman) as well as a glamorous collection aimed at strong-willed women who at times go through emotional battles between true love and loyalty to family.
Apart from that, Lakme Fashion Week, as usual, had a lot in store. Here’s sharing my look at LFW Winter/Festive 2017. I kept it very casual with a short off shoulder pink dress and black shoes. Strangely enough this looks like the short version of the dress which I wore for the previous season. You can see it here.
