The sweet melody of monsoon is better than any music. The pitter-patter on my window panes alone eases away stress and makes everything outside look calm and quiet. I love the sound of rains. The sound of rain is the sound of water… sound of nature… and sound of life. Have you ever wondered why the sound of raindrops makes us fall asleep? Or why is it harder to wake up whenever it is raining outside? I keep having these thoughts. It is almost as if the sound of rain covers all other surround noises and inherently possesses a soothing element. There is a strange connection between romance and rain. From “Kiss me in the rain” to “Tip Tip Barsa Pani”, there are numerous songs about falling in love during a cloudburst. In the end though, nothing beats the sweet voice of monsoon after a hard day’s work. This is exactly what inspired me to do this post – Madhubani. The literal translation of this is derived from the words, “madhu”+”vaani”, meaning “sweet”+ “voice/language”. Madhubani art is also one of the finest art forms in India’s rich artistic culture. Said to have originated during the times of Ramayana, the paintings generally depict figures of deities, elements of nature as well as geometrical shapes. The specialty of this art form? Well, there is no room for white or blank spaces in the designs.
As we come to the last leg of monsoon and before the festive season finally consumes the city, I did a photo shoot for Triveni Ethnics. Ironically, we shot this on the terrace of my new house when there was a heavy, crazy downpour! In fact, as I am writing this post, there is a thunderstorm happening outside. It was quite a risky shoot but I am glad that the photos turned out well. The latest collection by Triveni is called Madhubani. The sari which I picked, is from the same line and is made of super soft blended cotton, with beautiful art silk borders and a delightful Madhubani graphic on the aanchal. I loved it the moment I saw it. It is a simple, pretty sari but if you style it well, it looks extremely gorgeous. I completed my look with Kundan jewellery for a royal and elegant touch.
