Skin Care Tips During The Haze

haze singapore
With the PSI soaring as high as 300, Singapore has exceeded its most severe haze reading since September 1997. Originating from illegal burning of forests in Indonesia, an unprecedented haze clustered my entire sunny island making it difficult for us to see through and breathe properly.

Well obviously, it’s best to stay indoors but if you have to step out, do not forget to carry a mask along. During this challenging smog crisis, our breathing pattern suffers a lot and health goes for a toss.

Needless to say, the accumulation of air pollutants and other acidic substances on our skin can have severe stimulation. Dust and other particles can prevent the skin from breathing normally. The impurities in the air will definitely cause clogging in our skin which can lead to blackheads, pimples, rough texture and dull complexion.

So today, I would like to share with you some quick & useful skin care tips to follow during this hazy period.

1) Daily deep cleansing of skin in a must

If you put on makeup daily, remember to remove your makeup thoroughly because dust and impurities coupled with makeup can form bacteria and mess up your skin! After makeup removal, use a great cleanser to wash your face. Use cleansers with glycolic acids.

2) Exfoliate Your Skin

Use a good scrub to exfoliate your skin. Salicylic acid can also penetrate the lipid layer and get down deep in the pore to exfoliate dead skin cells and dissolve oil.

3) Moisturize Your Skin

A good moisturiser doesn’t just hydrate your skin, but also lock in the goodness from the skincare products you’ve applied, as well as create a barrier between your skin and the environmental aggressors.

4) Food & Water

VITAMIN C

Drink lots of water and maintain a good diet, rich in vitamin C to fight free radicals. If you don’t think you’re getting sufficient vitamin C in your diet, take a multivitamin supplement. Drinking lots of water keeps your skin hydrated and cell metabolism optimal.

Let’s just hope we get over the smog crisis soon!
Take care & remember to get enough rest.

xoxo
