I was at TAP, Andheri West, a couple of months back to catch an IPL match with a few friends. Back then, TAP impressed me for the ambiance, good drinks and it easily became one of my favourite sport bars in town. So when I received an invitation from the team at TAP saying that they are now opening a new outlet near my home, at Saki Naka, I got super excited and couldn’t wait to visit the new resto bar.
The newest outlet of TAP is located on the ground floor of Times Square Tech Park at Andheri Kurla Road, Saki Naka Junction and here’s what I wore that day – #OOTD
The moment I stepped in, I realized that this one is HUGE and perhaps much much bigger than the other outlets. It seemed really spacious as well. Wooden décor, quirky paintings, interesting artwork on the ceiling – the TAP Resto Bar at Saki Naka had distinctive areas which included a gaming section, the bar area, the dance floor, the outdoor (smoking) seating and the indoor dining place. There was also an open kitchen where we could see meals being prepared by the chefs.
I quite liked the ambiance – it was much more than just a sports bar. In fact, there was live music going on & it really seemed like a place where I’d even come to chill out with a few girl pals regardless of what matches are playing on their TV screens. I’m glad that TAP has pushed the envelope this time round, moving beyond their sports bar niche.
Coming to the food and beverage menu, TAP has a good range of cocktails, mocktails and alcoholic drinks. But if you know me well enough, I usually go with my favourite iced tea options. I chose a peach iced tea followed by a recommendation of a cranberry iced tea. Both were good but I preferred the peach iced tea.
I was also joined by a few blogger friends and we were served a veg starter – a crispy veg salt and pepper mix. This was followed by a non-veg starter- a prawn koliwada dish. I really liked the vegetarian option, it tasted amazing- just the right thing you’d want to munch on with drinks. I didn’t quite fancy the prawn dish, you could give this a miss.
Next, we were served the vegetarian Chinese platter which didn’t disappoint. For the non-vegetarian offering, we tried out the seafood Chinese platter which consisted of two fish preparations and prawns. I liked the Basa fish preparation. We didn’t really get a chance to try out anything in the main course or dessert section, so sadly can’t comment. However on the whole, I felt the vegetarian menu was much better than the non-vegetarian menu.
I was told that TAP at Saki Naka also opens in the morning for breakfast and they’re also open for lunch. Given their strategic location, I’m pretty sure TAP is going to attract a lot of the office-goers around the Saki Naka area. On the whole, I felt the menu at TAP is limited but the ambiance makes up for it. It’s more of a chill-out, drink & party place. I’m surely planning a girl’s night out here in the coming days!
